How to Set Up a Live Catch Single Mink Trap

The Live Catch Single Mink Trap (also known as the Squirrel Trap) allows you to target Squirrels and release non-target species that might also get into the trap. Live Catch traps are becoming more popular because they preserve the lives of non-target species, and allow you to kill the target species in a quicker, more humane manor – such as shooting. Here, we show you how to set up a Live Catch Single Mink Trap!

This trap is very quick and easy to set up because it all comes attached in one piece. There are just three simple steps to arm the trap.

1. Pull the toggle up and backwards

Pull up the toggle on the top of the trap. This will lift the interior bar that will help to arm the trap in the next step.

2. Push the gate up whilst holding the toggle in place

Hold the toggle in place – making sure that the interior bar is also in the same place – and then raise the plate up. This is the end that the animal will enter through.

3. Raise the treadle plate to arm the trap

Raise up the treadle place to engage with the interior bar. Once engaged, the trap is now set.

We recommend testing triggering the trap a couple of times to ensure it works. You can do this by pressing down on the treadle plate – mimicking what will happen when an animal applies pressure to it.
