There are four simple steps to setting up a Live Catch Rabbit Trap.
Firstly, unfold to flat packed trap and click into place. Wedge the arm on the open side to hold it together. Then, close the back door by sliding the pin through. To arm the trap, open the door and raise the arm on the catch on the top (as shown in our diagrams). This will raise the treadle plate, ready for a rabbit to step on and trap themselves.
We’ve created an instructional guide and video the show you exactly how to set it up. We also give you best practices for positioning and what bait to use.

Rabbits are herbivores, so you have many options of things to use a bait in your live catch rabbit trap.
Vegetables like carrots, lettuce and broccoli are great options.

You might also choose to but some rabbit food pellets or rabbit attractants – which are especially produced for use in traps.
Whatever you choose, having something brightly coloured in the trap is recommended because it attracts rabbits from afar. You can find a comprehensive list of rabbit bait in our blog article, or here.

You should place the live catch trap in areas where rabbits appear to be resting or stopping for longer periods. It might be instinctive to place the trap at the scene of damage they have caused, but be observant of the nearby areas. Rabbits feel secure in places with hiding spots such as long grass, bushes or shrubs.
Look out of rabbit droppings and rabbit tracks. These normally look like long hind (back) leg tracks, with two small dots for the front feet.
Rabbits are most active at dawn and dusk, so be on the lookout for the culprits around these times!
