How to know if a rabbit has caused damage

Before purchasing and setting up a rabbit trap it is important that you confirm that a rabbit is in fact the culprit of the problem.

Firstly, you need to identify the areas of high rabbit activity. They generally search property for food and will cause damage at times they are most active. Look for rabbit droppings in areas of vegetation, long grass and rabbit tracks, which normally looks like two hind (back) legs and small dots for their front legs.

Once you have confirmed that a rabbit(s) is the source of the problem it’s time to get to work. Purchase the Collins Nets Live Catch Rabbit Trap – we’ll show you how easy it is to set it up!

4. Open door and rest arm on top catch

Lift the open door and place the arm on the top catch as shown in the digram and video. We know the trap is armed when the treadle plate is raised. The trap is triggered by the rabbit stepping on the treadle plate.

What bait to use in live catch rabbit traps

Are you looking for effective rabbit trapping techniques? Enticing rabbits with attractive bait should be your first port of call. Here are some tried and tested rabbit trap bait ideas.

Rabbits are herbivores, so there are many foods you could choose to draw them into the trap. We recommend choosing something brightly coloured to attract them from afar.

Fresh vegetables like carrots, lettuce and broccoli are commonly used. Fruits such as apples and bananas also work brilliant. You might choose to purchase some pelleted rabbit food or rabbit-specific bait. There are many fantastic attractants on the market which are specially designed for use in live catch rabbit traps.
