How to Fit the Thermostat Sensor on an Alke Heater May 2, 2023 Instructional GuidePoultry Keeping Keeping chicks at a precise temperature is vital to good health. We are happy to supply a range of Alke heaters at Collins Nets – and each comes with a way of regulating the heat from the brooder. Here, we show you how to fit the thermostat sensor on an Alke heater. This instructional guide is suitable for Alke Global 5, Alke Global 10 and Alke AP2 owners. What is a thermostat sensor? The thermostat sensor regulates the temperature of your Alke heater. It allows you to manually control your heater. Once connected to the thermostat seat, it works by closing off and opening the valve to control the heat output – which is trigger by a pin pushing and lifting and you twist the sensor. 1. Ensure the sensor is set to high before fitting The first step is the ensure that the thermostat sensor is set to it’s maximum setting before you attempt to fit it to the heater. You should do this because when you turn on the valve after fitting it will be fully open and on its highest setting. Once it is connected and working you may turn down the temperature on the sensor, which will trigger the pin to push down – closing off the valve and producing less heat. 2. Fit the sensor Align the thread and engage the screw onto the thermostat seat (as shown in the video below). Troubleshooting If the new thermostat sensor isn’t regulating the gas properly, you should remove and reinstall it as shown in the video. You’ll hear a click when the sensor is installed – letting you know it is fitted correctly. If you don’t hear the click, try making some micro-movements with the thermostat sensor – wiggling it until you hear the noise. Providing you have followed the steps correctly, your thermostat sensor should be fully functional. If your Alke heater still isn’t regulating or outputting temperature, you should check the health of your thermostat seat. Collins Nets also supply thermostat seats if you need to replace your old one! If you still can’t get your new thermostat sensor to work with your Alke heater, feel free to give us a call and we’ll be happy to talk you through your options! Need a hand?
