Jumbo Release Pen Netting FAQs

What is Jumbo Release Pen Netting?

Jumbo Release Pen Netting (also called Heavy Game Net) is a durable, UV-stabilised plastic mesh, typically weighing 80 g/m² with ~50 mm (2″) mesh openings. It’s significantly lighter, easier to handle, and less visible than galvanised wire, yet exceptionally strong—designed specifically for building release pens.

What jumbo netting sizes are available?

Collins Nets stocks Jumbo Release Pen Netting in three standard sizes:

  • 4 ft × 100 m

  • 5 ft × 100 m

  • 6 ft × 100 m (also commonly used for deer fencing)

How does Gameflex differ from Jumbo?

Gameflex Release Pen Netting is similar to Jumbo but features smaller mesh openings (~25 mm × 18 mm or 1″ × ¾”), making it ideal for containing smaller game or enhancing predator exclusion.

Why use plastic netting instead of full wire netting?

  • Lightweight & easy to handle: easier to erect large structures.

  • Less visible: blends into the environment better.

  • Rust-free: made from UV-stabilised polypropylene, no corrosion risk.

Is plastic netting enough at ground level?

No—plastic alone is vulnerable to rats and burrowers. Always pair with 25–31 mm galvanised wire mesh at the base to prevent chewing and entry from beneath.

How well does it hold up outdoors?

Designed for outdoor use, Jumbo/Gameflex netting is UV-stabilised and durable—suitable for full-season deployments, especially on release pens and rearing enclosures.

Can I install it myself?

Yes- The lightweight material allows for easy DIY installation. Use sturdy posts, tension it properly, and secure each roll at the top and base. Just ensure it’s underpinned with galvanized wire at ground level.

Is this suitable for deer fencing?

Yes. The 6 ft × 100 m Jumbo netting option is commonly used for deer pens, offering ample height and durability. Many estates pair it with wire base mesh for full containment.
