Galvanised wire is perfect for poultry protection. It creates a barrier that is effective in keeping foxes, raccoons and birds of prey away.
Chicken wire is a cost effective solution that is inexpensive compared to other fencing solutions.
It’s versatile and easy to install, too! Chicken wire is lightweight and can be manoeuvred in many ways to cover unusually-shaped enclosures. The low cost of chicken wire makes it a great option for protecting large areas.

Collins Nets stocks various mesh sizes—typically from 10 cm to 25 cm hole sizes, in heights up to 1.5 m and roll lengths of 30 m and 50 m. Choose smaller meshes (10–15 cm) for predator exclusion or poultry pens and larger meshes (20–25 cm) for deer, cattle, or boundary fencing.
The medium-grade C8-80-15 (80 cm tall, 8 line wires, graduated mesh sizes, 3.15 mm top/bottom wire, 2.5 mm infills) is perfect for deer, sheep, and general stock fencing. For boundary lines, electric fencing-style protection, or larger animals, opt for heavier netting with thicker wire diameters.
Yes. Collins Nets uses hot-dip galvanising, which offers significantly better longevity than cold galvanisation—resisting corrosion for years in outdoor conditions.
For ground-level fencing—such as securing pen floors or forming predator-proof bases—galvanised wire (25–31 mm mesh) is essential to prevent burrowing pests. Use lighter plastic netting higher up to reduce weight and cost.

Use heavy-duty strainer posts at ends/turns.
Stretch tight using wire strainers or ratchet tools.
Attach with galvanised staples every 30–40 cm (angle them slightly for grip).
Bury the bottom 10–15 cm into the ground to deter digging animals.
Yes—with proper inline electric wire installation. Small-diameter line wires can support low-voltage poly-wire or tape, creating an electric barrier atop or beside the mesh. Always check compatibility with electric fencing accessories.
Inspect annually and after severe weather. Retighten using strainers as necessary and replace damaged sections immediately using crimp sleeves or inline connectors. Repair wildlife-triggered holes promptly to maintain security.
Absolutely. A common setup is a galvanised bottom skirt (25 mm mesh) up to ~0.5 m ground level to prevent burrowing, with lighter plastic netting above to reduce visibility and overall weight—advertised as the Collins “Jumbo Release Pen” method.
