These Micromesh Fry Seine Nets are rigged, by us, with floats at 12″ centres and No.4 leadline.
Sizes:
We use 1.0mm braided twine to rig the micromesh netting to 10 mm low stretch quality rope with floats and leadline.
The sizes listed here are our most popular options however, we can make a micromesh seine net to any length you require.
A Seine net can be pulled through the water in the manner of a trawl, however, the micromesh seine net is very popular as a stop net to separate areas of water.
We add a sweep and handle to all 4 corners of our seine nets. As a result, they’re simple to attach to a bridle or use manually. These sweeps greatly improve the usability of longer nets, which can become heavy during maneuvering.
Your Seine net should be 1½ times longer than the width of your water way. As a result, you will create a wide arch with the net when corralling the fish.
Once you have seined the length of your water you can use our Dip Nets and Fish Cages to retrieve and hold your fish.
Further guidance on using a seine net can be found on Page 10 of this IFCA Fish Survey Best Practice guide. Fish-survey-best-practice-guidance.pdf.
The main components of a Micromesh Seine net are,
A seine net is fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with its bottom edge held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats.
It is operated by hand using the two ropes fixed to its ends for hauling and herding the fish.
The type of seine nets we make are also known as drag nets or beach seines. They are commonly used all over the world in marine waters, lakes or large rivers.
