Perimeter netting for football & rugby pitches

Football or Rugby netting is perfect to surround the perimeter of your pitch, garden, or playing field.  Our netting will help prevent balls from escaping from outside the perimeter of the pitch.  The knotted netting is made using strong UV-stabilised polyethylene twine – which is extremely resilient through all kinds of weather and can withstand plenty of wear and tear. For professional use, we recommend fastening Football or Rugby to stop net posts using our galvanised net hanging snap hooks, cable ties and straining wire.

  • FAQs
  • What is the metre to feet conversion?

The majority of our product sizes are given in metre and feet and inches. For your convenience, please find the metric to imperial conversion below. 1 meter = 3.28 foot

Can your football stop nets and perimeter netting be customised to fit our pitch?

Yes. Football stop nets and perimeter netting can be supplied in custom lengths and heights. Nets can also be joined or overlocked at the edges for reinforcement, providing a tailored fit for school pitches, training grounds, and stadiums.

How do you stop footballs going over the garden fence?

We've all been unfortunate enough to kick a ball over a garden fence at some point. The walk round to timidly ask for your ball back never gets easier. If you aren't using one, we highly recommend a Collins Nets football goal net, which catches shots before they reach the fence line. If you still find balls going over, overlocked football stop netting fitted along the top of the fence is a reliable solution. Made from 3mm diameter twine, this netting is designed to stop footballs going over the garden fence without needing to raise the fence itself.

How high should the netting be?

For most domestic gardens, netting fitted to a height of 2 to 3 metres above the fence line is enough to catch mishit shots. Larger gardens or areas used for regular five-a-side games may need extra height, and we're happy to advise based on your setup.

What mesh size should I use?

A 100mm mesh is a good starting point for football, as it's small enough to hold the ball without restricting airflow or light into the garden.

    Can I install it myself?

Yes. Stop netting is typically fixed to posts or existing fence uprights and tensioned along the top. Most customers install it themselves over a weekend; we can advise on fixings and tensioning if you're setting up posts from scratch.

Goal net or stop netting, which do I need?

A goal net sits behind a fixed goal and catches shots aimed at it. Stop netting runs along the boundary and catches anything that gets past, so the two are often used together where a garden is used for regular practice. For larger installations, such as school grounds or sports clubs, our sports perimeter netting and football netting ranges cover higher and wider boundary requirements. Not sure what you need? We stock a range of sports perimeter netting at Collins Nets and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Give us a call on 01308 485422 or request a catalogue.
