Stainless Steel Hand Nets FAQs

What distinguishes a stainless steel hand net from a dip net?

Hand nets are built for precision work. They offer smaller hoop sizes, shorter handles, and finer mesh options for fry, juveniles, or broodstock inspection. Dip nets are for power and speed. Hand nets are for accuracy and gentle handling.Ā

What mesh should I use for fry or juvenile fish?

Use soft knotless micromesh. It prevents gill-cover abrasions and reduces fin tears. Finer mesh holds small fish securely while keeping water flow steady. Coated meshes are often chosen when nets see repetitive tank work.Ā

Do stainless steel hand nets suit hatchery environments?

Yes. Stainless steel stands up to constant disinfection, high humidity, and repeated daily handling. Because they keep their shape, operators get consistent net behaviour, which improves fish welfare and reduces escapes.Ā

How do I choose the best handle length?

Short handles maximise control in tanks and troughs. Medium handles work for shallow raceways or ponds. Longer handles reach across wide tanks, but they reduce precision. Choose based on water depth and how close you can safely get to the fish.Ā

Why upgrade to stainless when cheaper hand nets are available?

Cheaper nets deform and wear out quickly during daily use. Stainless frames hold tension, resist twisting, andĀ maintainĀ net shape. This improves capture success and reduces handling stress.Ā
