FAQs

How do you fish with a Seine net?

Seine nets are typically operated by two or more people. Generally, one person will anchor the net in shallow waters, holding one end, and the other person will walk outwards as deep as the length of the net. It is common practice for the bottom of the net to be slightly ahead of the top, in the direction you are travelling. For longer nets and bigger catches, sometimes a third person needs to be employed to bring in the middle of the net.

Seine nets are versatile and can be used as a barrier stop net, or they can be pulled through the waterway as a trawl. All of our seine nets come with a sweep fitted to each corner to make them easier to use.

After seining the length of your waterway, you can use dip nets and fish cages to retrieve and hold your fish.
