Can I mix galvanised and plastic netting in a build?

Absolutely. A common setup is a galvanised bottom skirt (25 mm mesh) up to ~0.5 m ground level to prevent burrowing, with lighter plastic netting above to reduce visibility and overall weight—advertised as the Collins “Jumbo Release Pen” method.
