Stainless Steel Dip Nets

At Collins Nets we manufacture a range of Stainless Steel Dip Nets. They are used throughout the world and often seen on television.

Each dip net is constructed of a 316 stainless steel tube and bar. Each net comes with a 5ft ribbed fibre glass handle as standard although other options are available. They are very strong and lightweight.

The Stainless Steel Dip Nets are available in either a round or ‘D’ shape. The ‘D’ shape nets have a protective bar on the leading edge and the round nets have protection all round.

They are available in a range of sizes and can come with either golf or fryma mesh.

Replacement nets and handles are available to buy separately.

Stainless Steel Dip Nets FAQs

When should I choose a stainless steel dip net over an aluminium model?

Choose stainless steel when you need strength above all else. These nets cope with heavy loads, fast water, and regular grading work. They keep their shape even after years of use. Aluminium is lighter but bends under repeated strain.

What mesh type works best for dip net grading?

A stronger, larger aperture mesh reduces drag and speeds up grading. It holds shape even during vigorous scooping. For delicate species or fry, operators switch to smaller mesh inserts, but the main frame remains stainless for durability.

Why are stainless dip nets preferred on fish farms?

They perform reliably in tanks, raceways, and ponds where nets face constant use. They withstand disinfectants and temperature changes. Many farms choose them because they hold their geometry, which reduces handling stress and improves efficiency.

How do I size a dip net for routine harvesting or crowding?

Large hoop sizes move more water and increase lift capacity, which suits big fish or bulk moves. Smaller hoops offer speed and control. The right choice depends on fish size, tank layout, and how many fish you plan to move per lift.

What reduces dip net lifespan in high-use operations?

Dragging nets on rough surfaces wears mesh prematurely. Overloading nets fatigues welds and bends frames. Storing nets wet accelerates material breakdown. Operators extend life by rinsing, hanging to dry, and replacing headbags before they fail.
