Chick Box Nest Box
The Chick Box offers a module nest box rather than a fabricated wooden alternative, it will save hundreds of hours cleaning over the life of the poultry shed, more importantly it is a massive step forward when managing red mite, disease and bacteria within the important nesting area, and the laying hens love them.

- It is recommended that 4 laying hens to each chickbox is a good ratio.
When choosing a nest box design it is easy to build the wrong design. The first signs are the hens will lay eggs in areas other than the Nest Box, this does not happen with the Chick Box. The Chick Box is draught free, but is ventilated to keep the hens warm in winter and cool in summer. The perch bracket is at the perfect height with additional grip detail to easily allow the hen to lift herself out of the Chick Box.
The perch is slightly higher than the perch bracket this encourages the hens to prefer to stand on the perch and any droppings then would fall clear of the nesting area.
Rollout Egg Trays can be supplied with the Chick Box or added later, the big advantage is the eggs will automatically rollout into the collection tray on the outside where they are easily visible. There is an opaque lid to cover the collection tray, this helps keep the eggs clean and away from any pecking.
The Chick Box system is a module and will retro fit into any shed configuration. In most cases you screw them to a length of suitable wood 3″ x 2″ – 75-50mm and hang them in a suitable position at approximately 600-800mm from the shed floor. They dovetail together so they can be double stacked or added to each other inline as your flock grows. It is recommended that 4 laying hens to each Chick Box is a good ratio.
